DRC natural resources press review of Thursday, September 5, 2013
The
Potentiel newspaper reports that the experts Mines validated
yesterday Wednesday, September 4 , the audit report of the institutional
and organizational framework for the mining sector. A
report that , according to the minister, will bring a new wind in the
management of human resources of the Ministry of Mines and specialized
services. The
newspaper notes that the workshop to validate the report of the audit
of the institutional and organizational framework for the mining sector
organized by the Project to support good governance in the mining sector
( PROMINES ) were closed on Wednesday September 4 , with a note of satisfaction.On the
same information, Radio Okapi reports back on the international auditing
firm Price Waterhouse Coopers who noted : lack of relevant
qualifications of staff , inadequate supply of technical training , the
average staff to retirement age and low wages are so many ills plaguing the mining sector in the DRC. The
audit by Price Waterhouse Coopers , the radio said , focused on the
review of the current organization of the management of the mining
sector. The firm has made a diagnosis on the functioning of public services mines . Its
mission also was to prepare a model of financial and human resources
that improves the sustainability of public sector institutions and
establish an action plan budgeted management . These actions are expected to improve the relationship between institutions and industry partners. According
to the radio , for Martin Kabwelulu , Minister of Mines , should
develop a comprehensive strategic plan for the recovery of the sector .In
another note, the Kinshasa edition of the Dépêches de Brazzaville
newspaper reports that experts discuss the Congo River. According
to the newspaper , this international meeting is twofold , namely,
training and exchange of knowledge in hydrology and fluvial
geomorphology . It
is about creating connections between the Congolese researchers on both
sides of the Congo River and those of laboratories around the world ,
for a better understanding of water in general and the Congo River in
particular. The conference began September 3, 2013 in Brazzaville.The same media reports of obstacles to the realization of Inga III project. According to the newspaper , Inga III , a production capacity of 4800 megawatts , up to the DRC significant challenges. Major concerns include the budget- cost , size and stirred the political landscape of the DRC. The first obstacle is related to the estimated $ 15 billion funding.
